50 Thousand New Yorkers Needed!
California and other states allow Voter initiatives or Referendums. If the voters have a problem, they can get a Voter referendum on the ballot and let the PEOPLE speak.In New York State they don't allow such democracy! So things like Proposition 215 can never become a reality here! BUT, we have found a way to circumvent this!! Right now, the Marijuana Reform Party has a candidate for Govenor. His name is Tom Leighton. He wants your vote.
If he gets 50,000 votes New York State gets a new Political Party. How? Well, from the Marijuana Reform Party website check out THEIR words.
We can advance our cause without even winning an election. If we reach the 50,000 vote threshold for our candidate for Governor in 2002, the MRP will become an official party in New York State. As a result of this modest success, we will then be able to leverage our votes for political access and influence on New York State marijuana policy. We will have a stronger voice in lobbying the state legislature for medical marijuana. Our name and symbol (the marijuana leaf) will appear on every ballot in every election in New York State, whether or not we have any candidates on the ballot. When people register to vote they will be able to enroll in the Marijuana Reform Party.
